Native software firms urged to apply for annual awards

Indigenous software companies are being urged to put themselves forward for the industry's annual awards ceremony in November.

The Irish Software Association, which organises the Software Industry Awards, says it is important to recognise the contribution that such firms make to the Irish economy.

It says 30,000 people currently work in the software sector, which generates €13bn in annual sales and accounts for 11% of Ireland's GDP.

The awards up for grabs this November include Company of the Year, New Company of the Year and Technical Innovation of the Year.

The closing date for applications is September 8.
