Activists call for end of govt support of greyhound industry
Activists have called on the Government to end its support of the greyhound industry.
More than €79m has been spent on the sport during the past five years.
Critics say the investment is wrong given that roughly 20,000 greyhounds are put down annually in the UK and Ireland.
Bernie Wright of the animal rights group Greyhound Action said public funding is the only reason the industry is successful.
