K Club greenkeepers get large pay increase

Greenkeepers at the K Club have been awarded pay increases of up to 50% over the next 16 months.

Greenkeepers at the K Club have been awarded pay increases of up to 50% over the next 16 months.

The move follows the acceptance of a Labour Court recommendation after a long-running dispute about pay.

Members of the Amicus trade union voted unanimously to accept the recommendation earlier this week, and today the union was informed that management at the K Club have also signed up to it.

The deal will see some greenkeepers getting an €10,000 increase in their pay packets.

Amicus spokesman Colm Quinlan said it was a substantial figure.

"It's a reflection on the extent the rate of pay fell out of line. It's as big an award as I've ever seen from the Labour Court. The Labour Court obviously recognised the value of their work more than the K Club had."
