Workers accept proposals for Great Southern Hotels sale
SIPTU members have voted overwhelmingly in favour of accepting the Labour Court's recommendations concerning the sale of the Great Southern Hotels.
The hotels are owned by the Dublin Airport Authority, but are due to be sold to private investors.
Under the Labour Court's proposals, the new owners will recognise SIPTU's right to represent the staff and will also set up a pension scheme equal to the one that currently operates.
Voluntary severance packages and conditions of employment are also covered in the agreement.
SIPTU spokesman Gerry McCormack has said he is confident the terms provide the best possible deal for all workers at the hotels.
