Energia to provide power for Travelsavers agencies
Energia, an energy supplier and part of the ISEQ-listed Viridian group, has signed a new nationwide power-supply agreement with Travelsavers Ireland.
Travelsavers Ireland has a chain of 100 independently-owned travel agencies throughout the country.
As part of the initial phase of the contract, 23 Travelsavers Ireland agencies have already signed up with Energia.
Combined, the total annual electricity requirement of all 100 sites, which will be supplied by Energia from its gas-fired power station in north Dublin, represents the equivalent power supply of around 1,200 homes.
Energia provides power to businesses, commercial and industrial markets and has a 25% market share in the business electricity market on an all-island basis.
Energia sales and marketing director Gary Ryan said: “This deal shows that competition in the energy sector can provide significant benefits and savings to businesses.
“It is important to evaluate all your options when it comes to energy provision and to get a supply and quality of service that best suits your business needs.
“Energia continues to grow its share of the all-island business electricity market on this basis.”
Energia provides power from its 343MW power station at Huntstown in Dublin. The Viridian group is investing in a second power plant at Huntstown, which will bring the group’s investment in the Republic of Ireland to €500m, providing around 17% of the State’s total electricity requirements.
Energia has offices in Dublin, Galway, Cork and Belfast.
