5,000 bags lost by BA since start of current alert

British Airways has admitted losing 5,000 bags since the start of the current security alert in response to the alleged terror plot targeting jets en route from London to the US.

The airline this afternoon apologised for the losses and said they were trying to return the luggage to passengers.
