Insurer Royal & Sun Alliance posted strong profits growth today as it benefited from favourable weather conditions and “disciplined” underwriting.

Profits before one-off items in the six months to June 30 rose 41% to £333m (€492.3m), following strong performances from all the company’s core businesses.
