Food and drink sector seeks action to curb energy costs

Food and drink producers say the industry's competitiveness is being badly damaged by spiralling energy costs in Ireland.

The sector has warned that jobs are at risk due to increases of up to 50% in the cost of oil, gas and electricity in the last 18 months.
