AstraZeneca lifted by top-five demand

Pharmaceuticals giant AstraZeneca today said second-quarter profits lifted 26% after a boom in demand for drugs such as cholesterol-lowering product Crestor.

The company reported pre-tax profits of $2.21bn (€1.7bn) in the three months to June 30 and said it was on target to hit financial goals for the year.
