Standard Life overcame a sluggish session for the London market as shares in the insurer made progress on their first day of trading.

Standard Life overcame a sluggish session for the London market as shares in the insurer made progress on their first day of trading.

The former mutual opened at 230p and quickly rose to 245p before settling back to stand at 242.25p towards the end of the morning.
