Investors enjoyed a good session in London today as rising commodity prices boosted heavyweight stocks and the Bank of England left interest rates on hold.

The FTSE 100 Index closed 63.3 points higher at 5890 as the cost of gold helped miners such as Antofagasta and strong oil prices buoyed Cairn Energy.
