Energia wins Government contract
Electricity provider Energia has been awarded a major contract to supply power to 101 Government offices.
The contract was awarded under a competitive tendering process by the Office of Public Works and is valued at approximately €6m a year.
The Governmental offices covered by the contract include the Department of Social & Family Affairs, the Department of Communications, Marine & Natural Resources, and the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment.
Energia supplies power to businesses, commercial and industrial markets and currently has a 25% market share in the business electricity market on an all island basis. The company already provides power to a large number of State agencies, local authorities, health boards and other public sector organisations.
Gary Ryan, sales and marketing director, Energia commented: ”Energia welcomes this new development as part of a growing trend by the public sector to seek out competitive electricity packages."
A member of Viridian Group, Energia sources power from the group’s power station in Dublin. Viridian Group is currently investing in a second power plant in Dublin which will bring its investment in the Republic of Ireland to €500m, providing around 17 % of the State’s total electricity requirements.
Energia has offices in Dublin, Galway, Cork and Belfast.
