Electrical retailer announces 30% increase in sales

Electrical retailer DSG Ireland today announced an increase in sales for the financial year to 30 April 2006.

Sales grew by 30%, at constant exchange rates, to €151.1m, up from €116.5m in 2004/05, with like-for-like sales increasing by 10.9%.

DSG Ireland trades from 21 stores as Currys, Dixons and PC World. Categories that grew strongly during the year included flat panel TVs, computer hardware and accessories and MP3 players. Three PC World stores and two Dixons stores opened during the year.

“DSG has consolidated its position during the year as the market leading electrical retailer in Ireland,” said Declan Ronayne, general manager of DSG Ireland.

“Sales in PC World, Currys and Dixons grew substantially ahead of the market, with a notably strong performance from Currys.

“Plans are at an advanced stage for an ambitious store opening programme for this year. We are confident we have a clear strategy for growth in the medium and long term.”
