Bowen Group project manager Michael Trench, recently won a silver medal as joint category winner in the over €50 million category at the Construction Manager of the Year awards.
The award was presented for the Bowen Group’s work on the O’Callaghan Properties MahonPoint Shopping Centre development.
Now in its 13th year, the annual Roadstone-sponsored Chartered Institute of Building in Ireland (CIOB) Construction Manager of the Year awards have become the premier showcase for management excellence in the construction industry throughout Ireland.
“I am delighted for Mike and the extended MahonPoint project construction team,” said John R Bowen, chairman and chief executive of the Bowen Group.
“The Bowen Group was the first construction company to win the FÁS Excellence Through People Awards and we believe in providing our people with the opportunities to develop their skills,” he added.
MahonPoint Shopping Centre opened its doors to the public on February 1, 2005.
The 55,000 square-metre shopping centre and retail park, incorporating multi-screen cinema, foodcourt, retail warehousing with extensive siteworks and parking, represented a project value of 105 million for the Bowen Group.
MahonPoint’s anchor tenants are Debenham’s, with 75,000 square-feet over two levels and Tesco, with 35,000 square-feet.
Other retailers include Zara, Next, Pamela Scott, Principals, Gasoline, Oasis, Monsoon, Lacoste, French Connection, Easons and many other high street brands.
