Fáilte Ireland appoints director of regional development

Fáilte Ireland has appointed its first ever director of regional development in response to concerns about a lack of support for tourism in the regions.

Fáilte Ireland has appointed its first ever director of regional development in response to concerns about a lack of support for tourism in the regions.

The post will be taken up by John Concannon, who is currently chief executive of Ireland West Tourism.

The appointment was recommended in a recent consultants' report which said regional activities should get more support to prevent rural tourism lagging behind the cities.
