ISEQ falls almost 100 points

Tullow Oil lost 36c (7%) to €4.75.

Aminex was down 1c (2.1%) at €0.47. The company aims to raise €4.3m from a new share placing.

Iona fell 20c (6%) to €3.15. Icon was down 25c at €42.45.

Paddy Power was down 69c (5%) at €13.00.

Irish Life and Permanent slipped 66c (3.6%) to €17.59. Permanent TSB was mentioned by a leading mortgage broker today as a lender that doesn’t pass on all interest-rate hikes to its customers.

Anglo Irish Bank fell 28c (2.5%) to €11.12.

Allied Irish Bank was the day’s busiest share and closed down 40c (2.2%) at €17.80.

Bank of Ireland was down 20c (1.5%) at €13.50. The bank announced today that it will sell and lease back 35 of its larger branches in September.

ISEQ ETF 20 shares were down 22c (1.5%) at €14.49.

Ryanair was one of the few companies finishing the day in the black, up 23c (3.5%) at €6.87.

Elan was also up, rising 35c (2.9%) to €12.35.

CRH fell 53c (2.2%) to €23.47. Grafton was down 21c (2.1%) at €9.97, while McInerney closed down 22c (1.8%) at €11.88.

Kerry Group dropped 35c (2.1%) to close at €16.55. Rival IAWS was down 26c (1.9%) at €13.74.

C&C fell 7c (1.5%) to €6.61. Chief executive Maurice Pratt was paid a total of €1.2m last year, according to the company’s annual report.

Independent New and Media fell 2c to €2.25, after saying early results for this year were in line with expectations.

Qualceram Shires was unchanged at €1.30. The company announced today that results for the first five months of 2006 were satisfactory and in line with expectations.
