ISEQ makes positive start to week

Strong gains among the financials helped the ISEQ index of shares to a 27.14 rise to 7678.95 today.

Bank of Ireland led the charge with a 28c hike to €14.39. Anglo Irish and Irish Life & Permanent were both up 23c to €12.48 and €19.03 respectively. AIB was unchanged at €18.90.

Construction stocks also did well with Kingspan gaining 14c to €13.39 and McInerney adding 33c to close at €12.38.

On a negative note, Elan was back in the red today with a 28c loss to €14.07.
