Upbeat BT now 'firing on all cylinders'
Telecoms group BT said today it was “firing on all cylinders” after increasing profits on the back of growth in demand for its new wave services.
Profits in the year to March 31 rose 5% to £2.18bn (€3.2bn), even though revenues from its traditional fixed-line telephony services fell 5% in the period.
BT, which has developed new revenue streams in broadband and IT services for corporate customers, also announced a major landmark in BT Vision, the television-via-broadband service it plans to launch in the UK this autumn.
The company said it had signed an agreement with DreamWorks for its films to be included in BT Vision’s video-on-demand service.
