Transport Minister Martin Cullen has expressed optimism about the sale of the Great Southern Hotels.

Advertisements have been placed in the national and international property media today following the Government's decision to sell off the eight hotels currently owned by the Dublin Airport Authority.

Speaking about the sale today, Mr Cullen said the hotels were already attracting interest.

"My understanding is that the preliminary interest is very, very high indeed," he said.

"I welcome that. I think this is the best way to secure the majority of those hotels continuing as major hotels in the Irish tourism industry for the future."
