Up to 35,000 have used disposable credit card in Ireland
Up to 35,000 people across Ireland have registered for the 3V card in the first six months of its operation, according to market research.
The 3V disposable credit card was created by Irish company 3V Transactions Services and is operated in partnership with permanent tsb bank, alphyra and the VISA credit card company.
The survey found that flights and CDs proved to be the most popular purchases (23% and 22% of users respectively).
Other items identified included clothes (15%), holidays (15%) and books (14%).
Asked why they chose to use the 3V product, 14% indicated that they used it because they were worried about giving personal details on the internet, 24% said they used it because it was a "good idea", 19% because it was "easy to use" and 9% because they "can’t get a credit card".
The 3V product does not require credit cheques, bank references or detailed application forms.
