SIPTU criticises failure of Jurys to conclude redundancy deal

Ireland's largest union, SIPTU, today claimed that the Jurys Doyle Hotel Group was “dragging its heels” over agreeing a redundancy deal with 650 of its staff.

The company’s hotels in the Ballsbridge are of Dublin will come under new ownership from next year, but SIPTU says workers there have no idea what level of redundancy payments they are likely to receive.

The union’s Hotel Branch Organiser Kieron Connoly criticised management’s response to worker claims.

“This is a compulsory closure and the workers have a right to expect more favourable redundancy terms, especially in view of the huge profit the group has made from the sale of the Ballsbridge properties,” he said.
