Takeover speculation surrounding easyJet cooled today after an Icelandic investor sold its 16.9% stake for a profit of almost £100m (€143m).

Takeover speculation surrounding easyJet cooled today after an Icelandic investor sold its 16.9% stake for a profit of almost £100m (€143m).

FL Group first invested in the British low-cost airline nearly two years ago and fuelled interest in its intentions by upping its stake on several occasions.

It said today it was working on several “interesting investment projects” and the sale of the easyJet stake would free up funds.
