The Broadcasting Commission today granted Today FM a 10-year extension to its licence.

The national independent broadcaster, which began broadcasting in 1997, will continue to provide a "broad format" service.

Meanwhile, BCI has invited Dublin's Newstalk station to a public oral hearing on Monday, April 24 as a second step in its application to provide a semi-national talk radio service.
