Alexon hurt by Dolcis downturn

Fashion retailer Alexon reported lower profits today following disappointing performances from its Dolcis footwear and Envy menswear businesses.

Like-for-like sales were 1.4% lower in the year to January 28, including a drop of 6% at Dolcis and a fall of 9% for the company’s menswear division.

Bay Trading – Alexon’s womenswear chain – had a better year with sales growth of 5%, but this failed to prevent overall operating profits falling to £19.7m ( €28.5m) from £29.4m (€42.6m) a year earlier.
