House of Fraser profits up

Department store chain House of Fraser posted a 4.6% hike in annual profits today and said sales since the end of January had not fallen as quickly as it feared.

House of Fraser said like-for-like sales fell 3.9% during the year to January 28, but the rate of decline had slowed to 1.3% in the seven weeks that followed.
