The Swedish furniture retailer IKEA is due to lodge a planning application today for its first Irish outlet in the Ballymun area of Dublin.

The Swedish furniture retailer IKEA is due to lodge a planning application today for its first Irish outlet in the Ballymun area of Dublin.

IKEA says the planned store will be 30,000 square metres in size and will employ around 500 people.

It will be located on lands that form part of the Ballymun Regeneration Zone.

IKEA is also planning to seek permission for another similar outlet in Belfast in the coming weeks.
