Viridian welcomes Northern energy bill

ISEQ-listed all-island energy company Viridian has welcomed legislation introduced in the House of Commons today.

Spokesman Robin Greer said: "We very much welcome the publication of the Northern Ireland Energy Bill and the provisions to facilitate the development of a single electricity market on the island of Ireland.

"The single wholesale market will underpin the developing competitive market for customers in Northern Ireland and will provide an export opportunity for local power industry.

"Together with the proposed Ireland to Wales interconnector, we are seeing the possibility of an eventual "two-islands" market.”
