SDLP proposes single all-Ireland 12.5%corporation tax rate

The SDLP is calling for the introduction of a single all-Ireland corporation tax rate of 12.5%.

It is one of a range of proposals being put forward by the party to enhance north-south co-operation on the economy, crime, education and infrastructure.

The party is also recommending an all-Ireland criminal assets bureau and sex offenders' register.

SDLP Leader Mark Durkan said today that such a strategy which would benefit nationalists and unionists alike.

“We’re putting forward the case that north-south makes sense, not just for nationalists but for all of us, as taxpayers, as public service users, as public service workers, as people in business, as trade unionists.

“Doing things together gives us all benefits and gains and there’s no point in us doing anything together, north-south that wouldn’t give us both benefits, whether we’re Unionists or Nationalists,” he said.
