BT, Microsoft, Virgin Mobile to launch digi-TV service

BT, Microsoft and Virgin Mobile are to join forces to launch Europe’s first digital television service for mobile phones, a report said today.

Confirmation of the venture is expected on Tuesday at the 3GSM conference in Barcelona, the biggest mobile phone industry gathering of the year.

By the summer, Virgin Mobile customers could be receiving at least five TV channels direct to their handsets via a BT service, which the UK telecommunications operator, has developed with Microsoft, the report in the Financial Times said.
