The function was attended by Mr Geary’s wife, Kay; Robin O’Sullivan, president of the Chambers of Ireland; Roger Flack, President of Cork Chamber; and Conor Healy, IDA director in the South West and incoming chief executive of Cork Chamber.

It was also attended by Ted Crosbie and Tom Crosbie, directors of TCH, which yesterday announced the purchase of the Echo group of newspapers in Wexford.

Mr Geary recalled his many happy years at the helm of the Chamber, paid tribute to his staff, acknowledged the huge support he received from the business community and congratulated TCH on its new purchases.
