BT today posted figures at the top end of expectations after revenues from 'new-wave' services offset weakening demand for traditional telecoms work.

Shares in the group rose 1% as quarterly underlying earnings of £1.4bn (€2.04bn), down marginally on last year, came in ahead of City hopes for £1.36bn (€2bn).
