SIPTU slams planned sell-off of Great Southern Hotels
SIPTU has severely criticised plans to sell off the state-owned Great Southern Hotel Group.
The Dublin Airport Authority yesterday announced plans to sell the group’s nine hotels, which employ around 660 people.
The businesses are believed to have made losses of around €6m last year
SIPTU has expressed anger with the move and is due to argue against the sell-off in a meeting with Transport Minister Martin Cullen next week.
The union wants the hotels to remain in state ownership under the auspices of Fáilte Ireland.
