M&S expands food empire with Iceland shops deal
Marks & Spencer added to its estate of Simply Food shops today with the acquisition of 28 sites from retailer Iceland for £38m (€55.3m).
The group said the stores were all in target areas for the Simply Food brand, which it described as a “very popular and profitable” concept.
Following the deal, which is due to be completed in March, M&S will have 171 of the stores offering up to 2,000 of its food lines, including ready meals.
