Crunch time for crisp maker

UK crisp maker Golden Wonder went into administration today putting 850 jobs at risk.

Administrators Kroll said the company suffered “serious trading difficulties” as it tried to compete in a market dominated by rival Walkers.

Kroll said it had already taken the decision to close a site at Corby, Northamptonshire, where 350 people work.

Golden Wonder, which produces Nik-Naks, Wheat Crunchies and Ringos, also has sites at Market Harborough in Leicestershire and Scunthorpe.
