Monstermob adds Russia to its network

Ringtones specialist MonsterMob today entered the Russian mobile market with the takeover of one of the country’s leading content providers.

Lancaster-based MonsterMob, which offers customers mobile entertainment such as ringtones and celebrity news, acquired Mobicon, a provider of games and logos for mobile phones, for £15.5m (€22.6m).

The deal provides MonsterMob with entry into the world’s third largest mobile phone market with around 100 million users. The company currently operates in more than 18 countries and this year added content providers in the Philippines and China to its portfolio.
