Record numbers of workers are leaving their jobs
A new national poll by the Small Firms Association has shown that a record breaking 199,000 Irish workers left their jobs this year.
The study revealed the majority of workers left their jobs because they didn’t get along with fellow colleagues.
The second most popular reason for switching jobs was the employee feeling their contribution to the company was not recognised by management.
Almost 40,000 people said they couldn’t stick their jobs because there was no chance of advancement.
Only 30,000 employees left because of salary, showing that over 170,000 people left jobs this year for reasons other than money.
“While money remains a universal motivator, other issues such as learning opportunities, personal growth and autonomy at work must feature highly on small business strategy to attract and retain staff,” said Pat Delaney, Director of the Small Firms Association.
