Blair to table new budget proposal

Tony Blair will today present fresh proposals aimed at ending the European Union budget crisis.

The British Prime Minister’s spokesman said the move followed progress in a series of meetings with key fellow leaders.

Mr Blair had been thought reluctant to table new plans for EU spending unless there was a genuine chance of a deal.

The spokesman said: “There has been some progress this morning. There is still further work to do but there has been progress.”
