€164m yield from tax defaulters
The latest list of Revenue defaulters has been published.
In all, the taxman collected almost €164m from audits and investigations in the three months from July to September.
There were 138 settlements in these three months yielding over €27m.
The largest settlement was by two connected companies in Dublin, Swanward Enterprises in Blackchurch Business Park in Rathcoole and Stanley Macadam Road surfacing, and the three men who run them, George, James and Ray Stanley.
In all they made six settlements totalling over €9.2m. One of these was for €5.3m and another for just under €3m.
The next-largest settlement involved Patrick Duff, a company director from Headfort Road in Kells, Co Meath, who settled for just over €1m.
Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council is also listed as a defaulter after settling for just under €40,000 for underdeclared VAT.
For the first time, the list includes people who hid money from the taxman by using Single Premium Insurance accounts. Four settlements of this nature yielded just over €1m.
