ISEQ slips slightly

The ISEQ index of Irish shares was finished slightly in the red today, falling just under 6 points to 7060.31.

The financial heavyweights enjoyed mixed fortunes today. Irish Life and Permanent recorded a massive 36c increase to 16.56, while Anglo Irish Bank rose 5c to €11.90.

AIB fell 21c to 18.19, while Bank of Ireland slipped 10c to €13.56.

Pharmaceutical company Elan saw one of the day's biggest increases, rising 46c to €9.46, an increase of over 5%.

Bookmaker Paddy Power fell 14c to €10.91 despite reacting positively to today's announcement that betting tax would be reduced to just 1% on July 1 nest year.
