240 jobs to be created at Donegal fish factory
Up to 240 jobs are to be created by a new fish processing plant in Donegal.
Norwegian company 'Welcom' is developing the €50m project in conjunction with the Killybegs Fishermen's Organisation.
It will allow Irish boats to land catches at home, saving time and fuel costs, and is expected to see many more foreign vessels using the port.
Martin Howley of the Killybegs Fishermen's Organisation says that over the last few years fishermen have lost a lot of their fish to Norwegian processing plants, but now vessels will be able to land a major portion of their catch in Ireland.
Mr Howley says it's also a huge boost for the industry that has built up to service shipyards.
