Seventy workers are facing redundancy in Co Wicklow this morning due to a US company's decision to relocate its Irish operation to eastern Europe.

Seventy workers are facing redundancy in Co Wicklow this morning due to a US company's decision to relocate its Irish operation to eastern Europe.

Harris Calorific, which manufactures equipment for use in gas systems, has been operating in Rathnew for the past 26 years.

The company said today that it was consulting with staff and unions in the hope of reaching early agreement on redundancy packages.
