daft.ie scoops awards

Irish property website daft.ie has been recognised as one of the five best e-Business Websites in the world at the United Nations World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), currently taking place in Tunisia.

A panel of 35 international experts evaluated websites from 168 countries to find the best 40 from around the world in e-learning, e-culture, e-science, e-government, e-health, e-business, e-entertainment and a special category, e-inclusion.

More than 10,000 delegates from 170 nations attended the summit, which also featured the launch of the world's first sub-$100 laptop, destined for emerging economies.

The founders of daft.ie, Brian and Eamonn Fallon, were also presented with two awards at the Irish Internet Association Net Visionary Awards at a ceremony in Clontarf Castle last night.

The awards were presented in the categories of Innovation and Internet Entrepreneur, which recognizes that the company has built a successful business enabled by e-commerce, demonstrating clear strategic vision and impressive tactical abilities.
