The director of the National Lottery, Ray Bates, is resigning from his position after almost 20 years in the job.

The director of the National Lottery, Ray Bates, is resigning from his position after almost 20 years in the job.

He says he wants to pursue personal business interests.

Current chief operating officer Dermot Griffin has been appointed as Mr Bates' successor.
