An Irish design company has won a contract to design and manage the building of an extension for a US biotechnology firm.

An Irish design company has won a contract to design and manage the building of an extension for a US biotechnology firm.

The company, Project Management (PM), will be involved in the construction of a €75m expansion for the biotechnology giant Genzyme in Belgium.

The project at Geel, is the third one where Genzyme has employed PM.

PM has previously managed the construction of Genzyme's manufacturing base in Waterford and the expansion of its UK base in Suffolk.

PM chief executive Pat McGrath said it will employ up to 220 people during the construction phase.
