Computer giant Hewlett-Packard is to cut 968 jobs in the UK as part of its worldwide restructuring, the company confirmed today.

The group, which has sites in Birmingham, London, Glasgow, Warrington, Bracknell, Reading and Bristol, said it was too early to say which locations would be affected.

It is part of a shake-up announced in July that will lead to a total of 14,500 job losses worldwide.

HP has a thousands-strong Irish workforce at its operation in Galway.
