Office workers mainly gossip about their colleagues when they meet for a coffee – with men more likely to enjoy a good natter than women, according to a new survey today.

Holidays are the second most talked about subject among office staff, a survey of 1,200 adults by Macmillan Cancer Relief showed.

Sex and love lives were well down the list of topics workers discuss over their elevenses.

A third of those questioned said they had a coffee with a workmate every day, especially if they worked in the media, computing or retail.

The study was held ahead of Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event on September 30.
