Tullow Oil has announced that natural gas production from its Munro field development started last Monday with an initial average rate of 55 mmscfd.

This has been achieved six weeks ahead of the development schedule and only 16 months after the field was discovered.

The Munro development, Tullow’s second UK development in 2005, consists of a single well, a minimum-facilities platform and a 5km pipeline that connects to the Tullow-owned CMS III and CMS infrastructure.

The Munro field, in which Tullow has a 15% interest, is expected to produce at a peak rate of 80 mmscfd.
