The ISEQ index was down 23.47 points to 6668.44 at close of business today.

The ISEQ index was down 23.47 points to 6668.44 at close of business today.

AIB was among the worst hit, down 21c to €17.62. Bank of Ireland shed 9c to close at €12.90.

Meanwhile, Anglo Irish was up 8c to €10.95, while Irish Life & Permanent gained 5c to €14.80.

Insurer FBD group was one of the few success stories of the day, adding 40c to close at €33.
