The ISEQ closed the day in positive territory, ending the day up 19.86 points to close at 6,717.5 this evening.

Banking shares help ISEQ into black

The ISEQ closed the day in positive territory, ending the day up 19.86 points to close at 6,717.5 this evening.

Most banking shares fared well today. Shares in Allied Irish Bank climbed 10c to €17.90 while Bank of Ireland shares jumped 14c to €13.10.

Anglo Irish Bank shares fell, however, down 7c to €10.88. Shares in Irish Life & Permanent Group climbed 15c to €14.85.

Meanwhile Irish Agricultural Wholesale Society (IAWS) revealed today it has reached agreement to invest in TechRec Ireland Limited, a new company established to recycle electrical and electronic equipment.

The market reacted negatively, with shares falling 15c to €11.50.

Shares in food and beverage group C&C also slipped today, down 10c to €4.10.

Shipping group Irish Continental saw shares rise, up 10c to €10.65.

The most traded shares today are Anglo Irish Bank, Bank of Ireland, AIB, CRH and Ryanair.
