Union fears for Royal Mail future
British union leaders today warned constant speculation about further job cuts at the Royal Mail was “extremely unsettling” for postal workers.
The Communication Workers’ Union said its members had worked hard to turn the company around in recent years despite a huge reduction in the number of employees.
The union’s comments followed a report that an international consultancy has told the UK postal regulator Postcom that the Royal Mail was planning further job cuts.
A Royal Mail spokesman said the organisation was not making any predictions about employment.
